As if I don’t have enough to do, I thought I might try to make some bobbles. They’re like yarn nipples. Quite fun.

The New Year is coming.
Here’s what I’ve been doing, besides putting off writing in my online journal.
I completed a simple knitted baby sweater. I got the pattern here. Simple enough. I need to practice sewing seams. They came out rather sloppy.
THEN..
I am trying to knit some socks on double pointed needles. This feels weird and icky, and by the time I have gotten the hang of knitting around, it’s time to start over.
hmpt.
Last but not least..
My newest project. A baby boat neck sweater. The yarn looked like it was going to be cute, but as I’m working on it, it looks very pastelly. Is that even a word? Easterish? I don’t know what’s going to happen. Maybe I’ll throw in some stripes or something. (if I even knew how to do that!!).
Happy Safe New Year!

Finally…
I finally finished the Steve Zissou hat for my lovie.
And here’s me in it because I couldn’t resist trying on the completed hat.
I’ll be working on baby things. I’ve got babies on the brain.

1940’s
I found this at a thrift shop.
I thought it was interesting. The black and white posed pictures. The descriptions of the sweaters.
It’s a pattern book from the 40’s. I was over charged. It’s original price was 10 cents, I was charged 25.
I’m working on another bootie, so that at least I’d have a pair. And I restarted the Zissou hat. No pictures though, I’m too lazy to get up.
I’d better get a move on, there’s a chill in the air! Rock On!

Start over.
I did the ribbing pattern too far up on the Zissou hat I was making.
Do I have the heart to rip it?
So in my decision of what to do, I knitted one bootie, just to help ease my mind.
And, I decided a baby beanie would be best.

Almost there..
This is not looking like a Zissou hat. It will still be cool.

Okay. My newest adventure, is trying to make a Zissou hat. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find red yarn.
Here’s spooky red yarn and out of focus.
Here’s too bright red yarn and still out of focus.

My first attempt w/ this yarn, I must of been tired or drugged w/ sugar cane, because I couldn’t figure out what the heck I was doing. I learned, after a good night’s rest, that the yarn was too thin. Hmm. So tonight, here I was, unwinding 2 balls of thin red yarn, into one big nasty ball of red yarn.
I liked working w/ this a lot better. As you can see I have some stitches on my needle. Is this worth it? I saw so many places to buy a team Zissou hat already made.
Well maybe it is, because I can say I made it and you didn’t and that makes me better than you.

This is Fucking cool.
I normally don’t curse. I usually save it for a real special occasion. I now understand why people who knit keep it a secret. I have a entered a Top Secret world of K2, P2.
When I started 4 weeks ago, I was willing to show anyone on the street how easy it is to knit. And now, after my recent project, I want to keep it all to myself. (but it’s no fun knitting alone)
I finished my hat. I don’t know what kind of yarn it is. It feels like a wool, and looks like a wool, but I can’t be sure. I was making this for my brother, but when I tried it on, it fit me perfectly. It might be too small for him.
I started this on Thurs, and it’s Sunday. I only had a couple hours each day, but it was pretty quick to make. And easy. I like the rib pattern.
RAAAHHH!

Autumn is coming..
Oooh. There’s going to be a chill in the air soon. My dessert adventure was, sad to say, a failure. I tried making my own yarn out of shopping bags. I cut them, tied them, wound them up (which was not fun work). I even tried knitting w/ that homemade yarn and it seemed a mess to me.
It looked sloppy and I didn’t like all the effort it took to make all that yarn.
So my new project is for winter. I LOVE it. It’s suppose to be for my brother, but I might make this first one for me as a test, heh heh. It’s got a ribbed pattern (my first crack at it) and the yarn is soo soft. I only have one ball/skein and I wish I would of bought 2 so I could make a super long scarf.
I know, I know, everyone wants a leopard print knitting bag.
